Every August, when the days are brightest, whenever i’d miss my family in the Philippines I used to tell myself that if we’re both under the same sun we must not be so far apart.
In isolation, the sun fills my room with so much light─ attic bedrooms are always the hottest. Everyday I wake up alongside the sunrise. I see all the people walking along the street from my window and wonder how my loved ones are doing. Wondering if they're safe, once again imagining the sun filling the space between us.
